Bylaws of the St. Louis Recorder Society

ARTICLE I: PURPOSES


  1. To promote recorder playing for enjoyment in the St. Louis area.
  2. To raise the level of proficiency among members.
  3. To provide performance opportunities for members.

ARTICLE II: MEMBERSHIP

  1. Any person (or group of persons) at a single address who supports the Purposes of this organization becomes a member upon completion of an enrollment form and timely annual payment of a single dues.
  2. Members of the St. Louis Recorder Society (SLURS) are encouraged, but not required to be members of the American Recorder Society (ARS).
  3. Meetings of SLURS will be open, but only members in good standing may vote. Other privileges may include, but are not restricted to, the right to borrow from a library, the opportunity to receive organizational mailings (newletters, announcements, and such) and reduced fees for workshops and group purchases.

ARTICLE III: ADMINISTRATION

  1. The policies and activities of this organization shall be administered by a board composed of the officers of SLURS and the chairs of any standing committees that may be formed.
  2. Officers shall be elected for a renewable one year term.
  3. To best meet the needs of the entire membership, every effort will be made to include players of diverse recorder playing ability among the officers.

ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS

The officers and their duties shall be as follows:

ARTICLE V: DUES

The amount of dues shall be set at the first meeting of SLURS and shall be re-established annually according to needs of the organization as determined by the board.

ARTICLE VI: BYLAWS ADOPTION and CHANGE

  1. These bylaws may be adopted and subsequently changed by a two-thirds majority vote of those members present at a regularly scheduled meeting of the membership.
  2. Proposed changes must be provided to the membership in writing at least two weeks prior to the meeting at which an amendment vote is taken.

ARTICLE VII: AUTHORITY

Parliamentary authority is Robert's Rules of Order, most recent edition.
