ARTICLE I: PURPOSES
- To promote recorder playing for enjoyment in
the St. Louis area.
- To raise the level of proficiency among
members.
- To provide performance opportunities for
members.
ARTICLE II: MEMBERSHIP
- Any person (or group of persons) at a single
address who supports the Purposes of this organization becomes a
member upon completion of an enrollment form and timely annual
payment of a single dues.
- Members of the St. Louis Recorder Society
(SLURS) are encouraged, but not required to be members of the
American Recorder Society (ARS).
- Meetings of SLURS will be open, but only
members in good standing may vote. Other privileges may include,
but are not restricted to, the right to borrow from a library, the
opportunity to receive organizational mailings (newletters,
announcements, and such) and reduced fees for workshops and group
purchases.
ARTICLE III: ADMINISTRATION
- The policies and activities of this
organization shall be administered by a board composed of the
officers of SLURS and the chairs of any standing committees that
may be formed.
- Officers shall be elected for a renewable one
year term.
- To best meet the needs of the entire
membership, every effort will be made to include players of
diverse recorder playing ability among the officers.
ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS
The officers and their duties shall be as
follows:
- PRESIDENT - Arranges time, place and agenda for
meetings. Presides over meetings. Acts as representative of SLURS
with the ARS.
- VICE PRESIDENT - Presides over meetings in the
absence of CHAIR. Arranges programs and hospitality.
- SCRIBE - Records actions and responsibilities.
Sends mailings and announcements. Keeps custody of Bylaws.
- ARCHIVIST - Maintains the list of members, the
mailing list, and other databases of the organization. Handles
outside requests for performances.
- LIBRARIAN - Stores, categorizes and loans to
members any materials owned by or loaned to the SLURS library,
such as music, books, magazines and instruments.
- TREASURER - Collects dues and donations and
other income. Keeps monies in a bank account and pays routine
bills. Seeks board approval for significant expenditures. Submits
periodic financial reports to the board.
ARTICLE V: DUES
The amount of dues shall be set at the first
meeting of SLURS and shall be re-established annually according to
needs of the organization as determined by the board.
ARTICLE VI: BYLAWS ADOPTION and
CHANGE
- These bylaws may be adopted and subsequently
changed by a two-thirds majority vote of those members present at
a regularly scheduled meeting of the membership.
- Proposed changes must be provided to the
membership in writing at least two weeks prior to the meeting at
which an amendment vote is taken.
ARTICLE VII: AUTHORITY
Parliamentary authority is Robert's Rules of Order, most
recent edition.
